How does a sniper go about attacking aircraft?

Are they able to at all? Or is it the same case as attacking armour with a sniper, in that it’s not allowed?

Couldn’t find this question answered elsewhere or in the FAQ which doesn’t cover New Flight Plan so hope someone can help clear this up.

I suspect it is more a case of not physically possible rather than not allowed.
Even infantry machine guns would have little chance of bringing down all but the slowest-moving aircraft.
