Historical Background:
The German strongpoint Wn12 (named “Daimler” by the Allies) was an artillery battery with 155mm French guns. The Wn14 (named “Sole” by the Allies) was defended by a grenadier company. On June 6, 1944, after a landing on Queen Red (Sword Beach) in front of the strongpoint “Cod” which inflicted heavy losses on the sand, the 2nd East Yorkshire Regiment arrived in the afternoon on the south edge of Ouistreham in front of “Daimler” and “Sole”. Supported by tanks of B Squadron, 13th/18th Hussars, the East Yorks attacked the two German strongpoints. After intense close combat, “Sole” was captured at 3.45 PM. “Daimler”, however, resisted until 6 PM, inflicting once again heavy losses to the East Yorks.

Setup Photo:`
For the first game I took axis side and my opponent took the allies. Allies started with troop movements in their left flank and destroyed the artillery in the bunker thanks to a lucky fighter-bomber. Axis then took off a fighter and destroyed some allied infantry. Allies then advanced on their left flank but they were drove back with heavy losses. Allies attack in their right flank but axis won one more medal and won the game at the score of 7-3.

Before the beginning of the second game we changed sides and after that we started the battle. Allies advanced with their tanks and weakened some units before the allied infantry get to work. Even if allied armor prepared the ground for allied infantry the infantry couldn’t took the bunkers on their right because they were stuck in wire. After that action allies turned their attention towards the other German strongpoint and, after heavy fighting, secured it and the victory at the score of 7-2.
