Beginner Questions for Overlord Scenarios

Still rather new to Memoir 44. My son and I just played the overlord scenario “sword of Stalingrad” for the first time. A couple of questions:

  1. What scenarios are called “overlord”. Any double size maps regardless of how many players?
  2. The overlord rules mention playing 1, 2 or 3 cards each turn. Does this hold true when playing just with two players? So I can play three cards in a row in an Overlord scenario before my opponent plays?
  3. When playing a Combat Card such as “Frozen Ground” that enables units to move one additional hex, does this also enable them to attach after one additional hex? The regular infantry may normally move one hex and attack. Does the “Frozen Ground” combat card enable this unit to move two hexes and still attack or does it only extend the moving range. So move two hexes and not attack or move three hexes and not attack?

Welcome to the forum @macinthass! I’ll answer to your questions in order.

  1. All scenarios with two standard maps are called overlord. But the ones with two breakthrough maps are called overthrough.

    1. Yes, you can play up to 3 cards on a turn.

      1. Yes, you can move one additional hex and battle if you can. For example: standard infantry can move 1 hex and battle or 2 hexes but no battle. With the frozen Ground combat card the regular infantry will be able to move up to to hexes and battle or 3 hexes but no battle.

I hope that this helps you. If you have any further questions, ask them here.
