Memoir 44-specific 1/72 scale comparison and base suitability

Equipment pack miniature which replaces a badge has always bothered me since it also has an army figure itself.

You could combine all three figures on the right to form a sniper unit, but once you do that you’re kind of putting yourself in the box that any figures of that look are snipers and should not be used for other purposes. Maybe paint the equipment pack miniature a neutral stone look or similar wall miniature perhaps. Then maybe you go for a diorama that works with your sniper/wall miniature.

I’ve always wanted these:

But more importantly these.

But I’d want to rebase all the miniatures. Any ideas on rebasing miniatures for a reasonable price. A user on BGG 3D printed some squares with lip and filled around the miniature base with epoxy. I wonder if it would just be better to rebase them perhaps after painting. They’re hard to get in USA, but maybe small clear 15mm acrylic bases might work well.

On the Caesar WWII Chinese Army (Victor at BGG has two sets for his M44) which Ben liked just above, I was able to land two sets for a fantastic price off ebay ($23 delivered.) The miniatures and boxes were musty/moldy so I had to let them bath in the sun for a few days and change out the baggies. My recent used sets were super moldy as well and taking even more sun, but they are coming along. My Airfix Australians (which are only 20mm tall) never were shipped by the unresponsive dealer so I ended up cancelling the charge and never got them. Maybe someday I’ll bump into them again, but I’m not actively looking for them. I’m pretty sure I’m toy soldiered out right now. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hi Andy, I wondered where you had gone! I’m sorry to hear you’re not selling directly any more, but relieved your brilliant work is still available to us. I have a long list of items that I feel like I need.

I’m especially interested in some bunkers and I want to get some of the tree and jungle scenery- what a brilliant idea!
